The Health Science Center (HSC) is the largest and most comprehensive academic health center in the Southeastern US. This center spans six Colleges (Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine and Health-Related Professions) providing over 3.7 million sq ft. of space for research, teaching and clinical activities and includes a HSC-wide General Clinical Research Center (GCRC). It houses over 2,000 full-time clinical and basic science faculty and almost 5,000 students, including over 800 graduate students.
All of the HSC colleges are adjacent to each other facilitating the multidisciplinary collaborations and interactions within this rich clinical research environment. The co-location of a premiere teaching hospital, six health profession colleges, and associated research centers and institutes under unified leadership on the main campus of a major university is unique among academic health centers in the United States.
