Tara M. Smith, M.D.
Tara Smith, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care since 2004. She serves as the Interim Chief for the Pediatric Critical Care Division and also serves as the Medical Director for the Pediatric Procedural Sedation Service. She holds many professional memberships and serves on the Sedation Committee and the PICU Quality Improvement Committee. After obtaining her Doctorate of Medicine from the American University of the Caribbean Montserrat, British West Indies in 1985, she completed her Pediatric Residency training at Albert Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from 1987 to 1990, serving as Chief Resident from 1990-1991. She then pursued a Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, New York from 1992 to 1995. She is the co-investigator for a multicenter prospective analysis of pediatric sedation practice.
